A child stares at her reflection in the water. Nearby, a temple sits by the Ping river – families pray and make offerings of live animals (turtles, eels, fish, snails) to the river. As I sketch, I’ve been thinking of the sacred and the spiritual. Trees are wrapped in ribbons and spirit houses are placed beside homes and shops. Respect for ancestors and the invisible is strong in Thailand. This piece aims to reveal the connection between the physical and spiritual reality.
